I'm Jamie. A school counselor turned champion for children, my passion is to empower systems with awareness of the impacts of childhood adversity and restorative resources for positive, lasting change.

As a planning board member for a fully-trauma-informed charter school, presenter at conferences such as ReImagine Conference and South Carolina Montessori Association Conference, I feel the call to action is clear, and the time is now to answer.

My Story

When I began my journey as a school counselor, I quickly realized the needs far outweighed the resources. Time, services, support specialists, and funding for targeted programs was limited. So I set out to implement a fully trauma-informed school counseling program plan in my first year on the job. In my time at a high-risk, rural school, I was able to see students move from merely surviving the labels and special education designations to thriving with healthy coping strategies as a part of my tiered interventions. Now, I know the enough to empower other educators with tools not only to mitigate the childhood adversity that is all-too prevalent, but to actually PREVENT it.
